WITHOUT PROMOTION YOUR BUSINESS WILL FAIL

(5 TIPS TO HELP YOU PROMOTE YOUR BUSINESS)

Running your own business can be very exciting. It doesn't matter if you're starting up a cleaning business or planning a future as a wedding photographer, without the right promotion your business will most certainly fail.

Passion alone won't help you. One of the biggest problems facing young entrepreneurs is that they believe passion will get them the success they deserve. Passion will not attract customers and without customers your business will hit the skids.

Here are my top 5 tips on how to generate more customers:

1. CRM
Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is a strategy for managing all your company's relationships and interactions with your customers and potential customers. It helps you improve your profitability.
My favourite supplier of this is Salesforce.com
Before you reach out to all your new customers, you need to be organised, without a decent CRM you will lose track and ultimately lose business.

2. IMPROVE YOUR WEBSITE SEO AND INVEST IN Google AdWords
SEO is the name given to activity on your website that attempts to improve your search engine rankings.
Make sure you fill your website with relevant and useful words and phrases used by people who search for your products and services. Investing in Google AdWords in the early stages of your business will give your website a chance to feature on the top pages of Google. You'll be paying each time someone clicks on your advert, monitor this activity for a month and reduce or increase your investment to suit your budget.

3. HAND OUT FLYERS
I am going to use my office cleaner and our office block as an example. We have 6 floors in our block. As an experiment to help her gain more income, we created a flyer for her. On one side it had mini shots of her favourite cleaning equipment, her top recommendations! On the other side, under her branding, it reads "I provide cleaning services for the first floor, they have trusted me with their cleaning for the past 6 years, please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss how I can help your business" This idea is great, and it really works. Only recently my photography studio gained 3 new contracts after we did a job for a major client that was based in an office block with 50 floors! People are more likely to trust you when they know you've done work for people within their own environment. 

4. PROMOTE YOUR BUSINESS BY COLD CALLING
Nobody likes a cold call. However, if you have something unique to promote and you believe it will add value to your new prospect, then cold calling is a great way to introduce your business. Try not to hard sell, simply introduce yourself and build a relationship with the person you are calling, follow the call up with a nice e-mail and don't give up, remember, failure is not an option!

5. ATTEND NETWORKING EVENTS
Last year I attended 24 networking events. At each event I managed to secure at least two contracts. Go prepared, take business cards and load an iPad up with some cool videos and samples of your services. Follow up on all your new contacts within 24 hours and offer special discounts and keep building on those new relationships.
